Just got my first Expedition after 11 years with my Explorer. I'm so happy with the upgrade and I'll never go back to the smaller Explorer. I have a few minor problems and maybe they're common to the Expedition. Is there a standard common fix for any of these problems?

- Doors rattle, and I don't see an adjustment to make them close tighter, how do I fix this?

- I need to find the keypad code for the drivers door keypad.

- Front end is clunking over bumps, what parts typically wear out on the Expedition?

- 6 disc in dash changer just says CD ERROR and won't load or eject discs, also it says something like disks full.

- Passenger door window motor spins and crunches but window doesn't move, window slowly falls down all the time.

- several buttons on steering wheel are not working for a/c and cruise control.

Welcome to the site. I also moved up from an Explorer. What year and model do you have. I wish I could help with the electical problems you are having, but common front end issues are definatley upper and lower ball joints, sway bar links etc. I'm sure someone will chime in on your issues shortly. Someone here has probably had the same type problems at one time or another.

For the CD error, is there possibly one stuck inside? I think I remember a few members here having that turn out to be the problem.

welcome....your window has likely slipped out of the clips that hold it (only held by glue) and needs to be reglued (cheap and ineffective solution) or replaced

your numerical code is up under the dash between your pedals and steering wheel. Stick your head up in there and you'll see a small sticker with your code...it is hard to see but should be there

check the TSB and recall notices. I do believe there was one about steering wheel buttons not working some wires got pinched and seperated and others were a potential fire harzard but it depends on what year your expy is

i have an 04 and after 3yrs my 6 disc changer did the same thing. nothing you can do to fix it, so you'll have to replace it. go aftermarket DIIN and you'll be good to go. i've read reviews in the past that said this was a common problem for ford and their multiple disc changers...

I got a 2003 Eddie Bauer edition 2WD 5.4L model, Blue/gold trim. It has the option for rear captains chairs, sunroof, dual A/C, tow package etc.

the code for the keyless entry PATS system is like someone said under your dash to the left of the brake pedal kinda tucked away... the white sticker is on the "brain" for the PATS a white/gray box with 2 different wiring harnesses into it... the code will be 5 digits long and on a sticker on that box

look on the firewall behind the fuse panel...

All your problems are very common for the 03/04 models.

For the door rattle there are rubber stoppers that are on the door that keep it from rattling, you may have 1 or more missing. How fast are you going when you hear the rattle? My doors rattle also but only at 90mph+.

On your CD changer, like others have said you just have to replace it (this is very common). I'm selling my 6 disk that I replaced with an upgraded head unit if you're looking for a cheap replacement.

My front end also clunks over bumps at slow speeds - probably ball joints like someone else said.

The doors aren't missing the rubber stoppers, but the driver's door latch looks like it had a rubberized coating on it, and it's all torn up. Over bumps the door rattles, and above 70 mph the door buffets with the wind going past it, making all kinds of wind noise through the upper door seal, like the door's getting sucked open.

I found a possible fix for the common cd changer problem. Supposedly I can put the changer into "shipping mode" by pressing a sequence of buttons. Then take the face off the stereo and hope that someone put a home made cd in it. The home made cd's cause lots of problems in this model head unit. If it's not that, a lot of people said their cd's were just not fully engaged into the part that spins them. Maybe I can fix it.
