While on a road trip this week my radiator fan failed catastrophically and took out the radiator also. I have two questions for y'all.
1) While the fan and radiator are being replaced, is there anything else that I should have them do proactively? Water pump? Cam phasers? Mine has about 50k miles on it.

2) Has anyone else had their fan blades fail? I didn't find anything on this forum, but I found several mentions of it on F150 forums.

I would do the radiator hoses with the new radiator.....make sure no A/C Lines to the condenser got damaged in the fan blade war.....

I've never heard of an electric fan blade coming apart....maybe a factory defect.

Here is the best photo i got of the fan. The whole blade broke off in a single piece. It's highly unlikely that something hit the blade because of the skid plate.

Agree with S20 above. Have the very poorly made core & A/C lines with plastic "Y" connector replaced and make sure that the coolant pressure is correct. Had coolant service done at dealer and a week later after turning on A/C the connectors exploded. There are metal aftermarket parts for that. Dealer may not have bled system correctly or some other thing was missed and led to overpressure and cracked those hoses (catastrophic failure); dealer neglected to suggest that maybe they should be replaced, but most people seem to have issues above 65k miles not at 65k. Dealer replaced hoses and coolant but now A/C sounds like jet engine so something else in system wrong (whether related or not).
