Question for you all...

I have a 2016 Limited RWD and I am looking to re-set up my weight distribution hitch for our travel trailer for this Expy. There are 82k miles and as far as i know still original shocks/suspension. I was just out taking some measurements of the ride height (front and rear) unloaded and noticed that the rear end ride height is about 1.5" lower than the front end. Is this normal or is it a sign that my rear shocks are wearing out? Seems to me, and on my F150, the rear end is or should be a few inches higher than the front?

Thanks for any input you might have!

Note.. I previously installed the SumoSprings in the rear to hopefully help with the sag.

My rear struts were completely worn out but the height to the top of the wheel arches from the ground was about the same front to rear. Also 2016. I haven't remeasured with the new struts but it looked the same to me.

If you are measuring the fender lip, that is not a true level point. Ford, in their infinite wisdom, made the rear fender lower than the front.

Putting a level on the frame is the best way to tell.

Maybe a stupid question, and Im not sure I've ever had shocks or struts that were completely worn out, but if the ride height seemingly was the same, how would one know if they were toast?

I was getting seasick. When you drive over a speed hump or similar the back of the vehicle should only bounce once. Also any pothole I hit made the back of the vehicle skip sideways. At 70 MPH on the freeway it is not a nice feeling.

All solved with new quick struts.

Shocks dont really affect the ride height. Shocks dampen the ride. Springs & weight control the ride height. Stock Ford shocks are toast before 50K miles IMHO. When I installed Bilstein on my 2010 Limited EL, night & day difference, huge improvement in ride quality & control.
