My rear hatch keeps tripping the door ajar light and keeping my interior lights on. I've sprayed some lube inside the latch. It the switch the black things on the sides that engage the rubber blocks when it closes? What do I need to clean? I mess with them and slam the hatch a few times and it fixes it until I open it or drive again.

The actual plunger switch is kind of hard to hit with spray lube without removing the interior panel.

It is available at most part stores now. It just removes with a quarter turn and a small 2 wire harness.

i would just replace it.. when you clean them it is a crap shot if it will work long enough for the removal to be worth it

I had the same problem with mine. Replaced the switch and the lights stayed on until the hatch was opened. It currently is unplugged.

So the spring loaded things on the side have nothing to do with it? What are they?

I think I might disconnect it, and maybe hook the wires to a switch so I can just turn the light on if I want it.

Thanks

How did you know that it was the rear hatch that was keeping the lights on? I have the same problem with the lights staying on in mine but can't tell which switch is the culprit.

Because I went around slamming doors and slamming the hatch seems to fix it. Though it may actually be the window.

I disconnected the switch for the hatch, and put a jumper in the connector and the light turned on, then I removed it and it went out. So I assumed I got it. Then last night, I was riding around with the "Door ajar" light on again. I slammed the window, and the lights went out.

Plus, on the actual doors, I couldn't find a switch. I assume they must be internal.

Hmmm...I'll go out this afternoon and start slamming doors. I've been thinking about replacing the interior light bulbs with blue bulbs if I can find them. That way, at night, I can see better and a blue hue inside the truck could be cool.

Slamming the door glass didn't work with mine, just for giggles I pushed the plunger down with a small screwdriver and the lights went out.
