The windshield on my 2013 Expedition was replaced after it cracked over the winter. The vehicle had been safely parked for some time when the crack appeared, and there was no known impact. I assume there may have been a previously unnoticed chip that caused the glass to crack under the stress of the snow and cold.

Does anyone know what this part is called and what the part number might be? Any universal options that might work just as well?

Probably this piece, discontinued but fits many years. You might be able to source from a wrecking yard. Might be a whole new experience at a pick a part.View attachment 87503

This shield is shown to fit the 2008 - 2017 Expedition models.

I ordered and bought a new 2015 Expedition Limited 4WD. The vehicle did not come with this shield. The mirror wiring harness was exposed and wrapped in tape. I thought the exposed harness looked cheap.

All of my GM vehicles have this type of shield for the mirror wiring harness, including a 2014 Impala 2LTZ that I bought new.

Now I realize the part was omitted from the factory, or later taken at the dealership before I took delivery of the new vehicle. Interesting.

You might save time and money by going to an auto parts store and buy a small diameter split shield. I believe you can find it in 1/4", cut it to length.
