How do you get the aluminum tube line off at the back? Is it welded on? It is against a metal piece that is bolted on to body of engine.03 Expedition 5.4l. See attachment.

There's actually two holding it on back there. A real pain. Usually a 1/4" drive ratchet and socket works. Once they're removed you just pull rearward and the pipe will come off the front nipple. There's two small O-rings on the nipple that need to be replaced before the pipe is re-installed. If you have a mechanics mirror and flashlight you can use it to see those fasteners back there. The harness gets in the way too.

Has anyone came across an extra metal piece on the coolant flow line that goes in valley? Seems to be holding harness away from line and engine. So I guess I have 4 nuts to remove instead of just two ,to remove that line.

Yes, that should be there. It secures that wiring harness, keeping it from falling over time and abrading, or touching anything it shouldn’t. So yes, there are 2 nuts to remove to take that bracket out. Then you do need to remove the inboard bolt / stud to remove the coolant line. For the outboard bolt / stud, you only have to loosen it in order to remove the coolant line. Completely backing out the outboard bolt / stud can prove challenging if not impossible because you won’t have the clearance from the firewall. But it’s not necessary to completely remove the outboard one if you’re just taking off the coolant line.

Which is the inboard and which is the outboard? Outboard is top left above nipple and Inboard is lower right below nipple? See attachment.

Do those two studs/ bolts unscrew or tap out? Do you know?
