Well first off, I was hoping my second post would go a lil better than this but, I guess thats how it goes.
So today I replaced my Fuel pump and everything seemed to be golden! After driving for about 20min my Engine light came on.
I got these codes..
Code P1450 (Unable to bleed up fuel tank vacuum) and
Code P0452 (Evap emission system pressure sensor/switch low)

I double checked kinks in the hoses when I was done and also checked to see if my gas cap was closed.
I cleared the codes after I checked the cap but of course they came back again!

From searching on here I see it can be alot of things but, is there somewhere I should start?
Any Help would be greatly appreciated!!

I have the same P0452 code after replacing my fuel pump with an Airtex. I've also had an issue with stalling that I've posted on here in the last few weeks that my mechanic now says is being caused by the Airtex pump. I don't know if the P0452 code is a bad fuel tank pressure sensor on the new pump, but it's possible. What type of pump did you install?

Yep, Airtex too. This makes sense b/c the pump is the only thing that has changed. I'm gonna see if I can swap out the old sensor.. I take it this is the one on the top of the assembly?

I would guess that one of the hoses was deteriorated enough that when you moved them to drop the tank one of them developed a leak. Thats were I would start at least. For what its worth when I changed out my pump I researched and saw a lot of negative reviews on the airtex pumps across many makes and models. I ordered the pump from Napa and they were going to get the airtex but I asked for an alternative. I ended up ordering a Bosch instead, they make the oem pumps and it was identical to the original I pulled.

Yes. You have to pressed down on the sensor and turn counter clockwise to remove it. I've put 2 of these pumps in with the same problems now. I'm about to pull it for a 3rd time and go with Motorcraft. Have you noticed any issues with hesitation/stalling when you're below 1/4 of a tank, or have you even made it that far yet? Mine will predictably stall when I go to accelerate after slowing down to under 5 mph without coming to a complete stop. I'm interested to see if yours is doing the same thing.

Which Bosch pump did you get? I see three on Napa's website (that's where I bought the Airtex). My Expy doesn't have auto adjusting suspension, but there are 2 listed that meet that spec. One says w/o auto adjusting suspension, and the other says w/ standard suspension. Can you remember which pump you installed?

The one I bought is N67107. I have a 4x4 without air suspension. IIRC the three are as follows. Load leveling suspension-all models and then the other two are 4x2 and 4x4 and by year. I think the '97 4x4 and 4x2 had a 26 gallon tank standard and in '98 they went to a 30 gallon standard on the 4x4.

I have a '99 Eddie Bauer 2x4 w/o auto adjusting suspension. The manual says it has a 26 gal. tank, but I can tell you from experience, it will only take 22 gal. when it runs out of gas. I'm suspecting the pump doesn't provide enough tank pressure to run when it gets that low.

The only thing I notice is as I come to a stop sometimes.. the engine goes to around 500rpm slightly and then back to normal. Honestly, I do not know if it did this before or not.

So, on the sensor.. Can I take this off with the fuel pump still in the tank???
I'm also gonna check and possibly replace the hoses.

It's hard to see the sensor, and the space is tight, but it should be possible to get it off w/o dropping the tank. I would think that you're going to have a harder time getting your old sensor back in place because you won't be able to see what you're doing. As for the actual sensor, it's only about 2" tall once you take it off of the pump.

Just an update.... Went to try to take off the old sensor and it broke right off, so there goes that idea. I cleaned the harness connecions and checked wires...still no dice. Advance did say they will warranty the pump for me. On a side note..I noticed that my gas cap did hiss when I took it off after driving.

I've had many issues with Airtex pumps. Don't recommend. I'd rather get a Motorcraft.

That's what my mechanic said. He suggested buying one from Ford and putting it in, then bringing back the Airtex (I bought it from Napa) and telling them that it died while out of town and I had to replace it. That way they can't try to exchange it. This is the second Airtex I've put in and would not recommend them to anyone.

If you bought it at Napa just go in and ask them to order you the Bosch pump and return the Airtex and pay the difference. The Bosch pump is the OEM pump by the way so you don't need to get the Motorcraft at the dealer.

I had asked my mechanic whether the Bosch would work, since they made the OEM pump. He said that the ONLY way to ensure I get the exact manufacturer's specifications is to buy the Motorcraft pump. The difference is about $100 between the two and I would rather take the cheaper route (thus, buying an Airtex), but I trust my mechanic's opinion. If I didn't have to pay for labor each time, I would consider giving the Bosch a try first, but I can't afford to keep putting my truck in the shop.

I'm not sure if I was clear on my previous post but the Bosch pump is the motorcraft pump/OEM pump. Ford/motorcraft does not make their own pump, Bosch makes it for them. If you get it at the ford dealer the only difference will be the dealer mark up in price. The dealer pump will be a Bosch pump. It would be the same thing as buying motorcraft spark plugs at the dealer for $8.99 or getting the same motorcraft spark plug at Napa for $3.99.

No, I completely understand what you're saying. That's why I said what I did about Bosch making the OEM pump for Ford. Bosch makes a lot of the parts for our vehicles, including the OEM fuel pump. That's why I asked my mechanic about it, and he said that there could be differences between the performance standards of the Bosch/Motorcraft pump, and the pump sold under the Bosch brand. He explained that Ford's requirements are generally less tolerant of things than something sold under the direct brand, even though it's made by the same company. I haven't got a clue if he's right, but it sounded convincing. Keep in mind, he was not trying to sell the part, and won't make a dime off of it if I do buy one from Ford. He was just giving me his opinion. I'm guessing it could be similar to the difference between buying something from an Outlet store versus a retail store. The quality isn't always the same, even though it's the same brand. The Outlet stores usually sell damaged or irregular goods.
