My 2012 LTD 4x4 has 275/55-R20s which are factory set to 34psi. I know from 14 years with my last Expy that I'll get better handling, better MPG and better tire life with more pressure in the tires. But the TPMS blinks on at 36psi. I'd really like to be up about 42psi. I know that the "retraining" method for pre-'99 only requires a donut magnet to reset the pressures. But I think the newer TPMS requires a 315 mHz transmitter during the retraining process. Do I have this right? Is there a good source for the tool? Or am I full of water? :)

Something doesn't sound right. The system is designed to warn of LOW tire pressure and I don't believe it tells if pressure is too high.

I have adjusted the air in my tires all the way up to 40 psi before and never had an issue or light come on. The only time the light came on was when the pressure was too low. I'm also surprised the system would be sensitive enough that 2psi up from factory would cause the light to come on. Wonder what happens when the tires heat up from use causing the pressure to go up on it's own.

Are the TPMS correct for the vehicle ??? Did you buy it new ??? Maybe previous owner installed incorrect aftermarket ones.
