well then i headed out to the valley. wanted a drive and visit some friends. so i started out getting off at the old glenn highway and going out to kinik river. played out there for a bit and had alot of fun! ripped my front licn plate off too haha

this was on the old glenn, notice the sea level

then i got out on the silty sandy/rocky mess. had it in 4low and 2nd gear seemed to work well. it was very soft in a few spots. also had to make a 6" water crossing but did not stop because i was worried i'd sink.

Awsome man. I am so JEALOUS. Just to able to offroading like that. We have NOWHERE to go other than a couple state parks and the closet is an hour plus and its just a little trail riding. There is one place to go but its $25 per vehicle and the whole place is only 100 acres and it's an hour and a half away. Now if you want MUD, thats a different story.

i just could not bring myself to buy chrome tails...for some reason they do not sit well with me unless on white. i think they tie into the black accents (wheels, 5.4 and fx4 decals, mud flaps) decently well. may go with black headlights later on.

i was out there without a friend so i did not want to get stuck. it was so soft that in some spots if i didnt keep it almost floored and rpms up i would sink down and start spinning alot lol

thanks guys! it was a wonderful day...very beautiful and a nice drive.

here is a link to the exact tails. wonderful seller and good price IMO.

it looks real soft. but the key to driving in sand is no hard stops, no hard acceleration, and dont stop in the super soft stuff.

thats why i just kept momentum, only stopped where it was solid..did not want to chance it.

plus this stuff is worse then sand, its glacier silt which is MUCH finer.

o yeah silt is not fun to get stuck in. ive seen fully locked jeeps get stuck in silt out here. only way they can get out is with a winch.

nope this is a river coming off a glacier. the filming of top gear was up around Fairbanks which is about 350ish miles north.
