My drivers side running board stopped working. I purchased a new motor and still the same problem. The board comes down with the door opening. It will close if I wait until the motor begins and I nudge it up to enable it to close. It may need bushing replacement. Any ideas out there?

I am new to this forum and look forward to valuable information as I keep my Expedition on the road. Please advise if this is the correct way to initiate forum posts....
Search box top right of the page put in "running board" and it will show you to a lot of threads on this subject already. Do your homework first, then bring any questions that they did not answer back here to your thread.

Here's what I did to get mine working normally.

1. Clean the hinges well of debris and gunk.

2. Apply a liberal amount of lube that is antistatic such as motorcycle chain oil or wd-40 specialized for metal to metal contact, not regular wd-40.

3. Apply at every oil change.

Hope this works for you as well!

Penetrating oil doesn't last as long as oil but it gets in where it's needed and just takes more applications. If you can get thicker oil in there that's great. Too bad they got chintzy and didn't put zerk fittings in. I spray mine about once a month.

Can someone post your a link to the metal on metal WD-40 lube? I'm not finding a close match when searching. I found this. Is that what you use?

To date, I have just been using regular WD-40 and a towel underneath to catch what doesn't stick. My 2012 EL has 100K. I lubricate the pivots on the running boards a few times a year.

I have this too, what do you think about using on the pivot points?

Check out FordTechMakuloco's youtube channel. Specifically Ford Tech Tips #86. He shows you his process for fixing this issue. I followed it and it works as advertised. The only thing I do differently is to reapply after every wash. I like to get into the hinges and blow out all the debris, especially in the winter. SO I keep a can of wd-40 and fluid film in the vehicle and apply before I leave the car wash.

Did you mean #86? If so, here is the video link. I'll watch it later tonight, working now.
