A 2007 expy with 5.4. The key will turn on but the car won't crank. It does nothing. Also the gear shifter won't move. A symbol of the vehicle with a padlock is on the instrument panel. All this happened on 12/18. The car was towed to the dealer and on 12/20 they determined is was the computer. New computer installed on 12/23 and it worked fine until the night of 12/24 and all the problems came back. Any and all is appreciated. Merry Christmas.<><

Sounds like the SecuriLock ( PATS ) unit is faulty. Is that what they replaced ?

Nope. They said the computer shorted out and it was replaced, apparently without fixing what caused it so short out. If securilock (pats) is the remote start the car doesn't have one that I know of.

The Securilock PATS unit is the FORD security feature that recognizes the tiny chip inside the key head and will only allow the vehicle to start if the proper key is recognized. If you had a spare key made, it wont work until its properly programmed to the PATS unit.

Still looking for answers. This is what was checked per the work order prior to the install of a new pcm; KOEO, KOER, CMDTC. Also checked OASIS. On 1/2 it was rollbacked to the dealer and it has been working properly ever since. It starts and drives as it should. The problem is still there only not showing up now.

Do you have two keys and does one of them work better than the other? Could be the chip in the key is faulty too. I have a friend who's key "wore out" so they are using the other one. Strange.

When the new PCM was installed they reprogrammed both keys and made a new one and all worked at the time.
