shift motor installation

I have a 1998 Expedition XLT, 4.6 Engine. I am trying to install a new shift motor and the new one only has 7 pins the old one has 13, do i pull the wires from the old harness and push them into the harness on the new motor? Thanks in advance fro any help.

yeah, i'm changing mine to but am not the one doing it, am gonna let my dealer put it, quick question tho, am not really sure if mine is brocken ( atleast thats what my mechanic said) i just have this thumbing annoying noise at my right front wheel every time i steer it to my left or if am driving slow and put the brakes on. how bout urs?
