Sometimes won't start in park : Where's the two Torx screws

Hi

Sometimes my 99 won't start in park, it will start in neutral.

I've read online that the solution is to replace the neutral safety switch or to tighten two torx screws.

Any idea where these two screws are?

Under the dash . Move the gear selector up and down in park when your under there you will be able tu find them . Please do the Sig line too

Is your shifter really loose? I only had problems when the screw came all the way out and the shifter was flopping all over.

I just fixed this on mine today I took the for nuts out and lowered the steering coulom to the floor to get to the two trox screws maybe took 45 mins to do..

You dont have to remove the column. I crawled under and could see the two screws. In 15 min. Mine was done. There is an adjustment on the shifter cable as well. You have to push the outer plastic clip located on the transmissions shift lever up and slide it further to the back of the vehicle then re-attach it to the shift lever on the trans.

It's actually fairly easy to get to them under the dash as long as you lie on your back. It's kind of awkward but not too bad.

Of course size of upper body would play a roll in that...

I'm glad I saw this. Mine sometimes won't start and I have to wiggle the selector to get it running. This is my added weekend project.
