Searching for the best price on some Motorcraft SP-509 plugs I found some that are much cheaper on eBay but not sure if they are true Motorcraft plugs. What is your opinion would you purchase a set of plugs from eBay?

Pricing for 8 plugs

Local Ford Dealer $119.99

Advance Auto $58.99 with coupon

Amazon Prime: $59.50

eBay: $22.59 FREE SHIPPING

Rock Auto doesn't have much markup and they get $64, so I'd suppose the ebay plugs are either stolen, counterfeit Chinese, reboxed non-platnum or someone's leftovers. Maybe an old design. Motorcraft has revised some plug designs a few times.

If he only has eight to sell, they are perhaps someone's leftovers. If he's selling 1000, they're not and you're rolling the dice.

At this point in my life. I don't need the drama. When I was younger (and a lot poorer and a lot less intellectual), I'd save the $30 and take the chance of them blowing through my aluminum hood. I lived my life that way.

Theirs quite a few selling the double platinum plugs. I just emailed a vendor, he has a 99.1 percent happy rating. His item is as described. Sp509 plugs 8 for $29.99! I'd take a shot. Are the sp509 the 2 piece breakable ones, or the newer 1 piece?

Aren't Motorcraft plugs manufactured in China now?

The vendor that was selling cheap on eBay never got back to me about my question about are they made in China. Apparently they are, or he doesn't care. Tough call, tough job. Might want to buy locally and read the package, see if it says where their from.

IMG_20181105_180230156.jpg Somewhat related, I guess...o.p. is talking about an older engine.

Just picked up a set of one heat range colder plugs at O'Reilly Auto, that I ordered yesterday.
Pretty decent, didn't have to prepay, and did not pay, until I inspected each, out of the box.

I guess you've got ask yourself what's more important, your time, and possibly having to redo an already tough job, or throw the dice, and hope you throw a 7/11! I've played the 3 big lottos 2 times a week for close to 20 years now, and best I ever won was $11.00! I'm a bad gambler! You should be too.

And, don't buy YETI tumblers anywhere but at Yeti.com. Counterfeits are everywhere on-line and in many walk-in stores. Just saying......
