Howdy,

I just bought a 99 EB EXPY about a month ago (love it, BTW), and then started seeing the rash of horror reports of relatively recent and numerous 'under the hood' fires contributed to the always 'hot' Speed Control Deactivation Switch (on the Master Cylinder) manufactured by Texas Instruments. I became concerned as only the 2000 models were on recall. Well, I am here to report that while I was having a little bit of service yesterday at my local Ford dealership, they indicated in a passing conversation that the new Speed Control Switch was in for the recall replacement. I asked how much and within the hour I had the new switch installed for a total of $58. For the piece of mine, it was worth it. I didn't want to wait and see what the newest investigation on 97-99s and 2001-2002s was going to reveal. For the price, it was worth it and I can move on. I just wanted to report this in this forum. Good luck all!!

BTW, the new part has a different wiring harness, and is no longer a direct wired connection into the master cylinder like the part having 24/7 hot problems. The manufacturer has also changed (don't know who it is).
