Hi all,

Having an issue with my XPO at the moment.

When driving my speedometer seems to not move and then all of a sudden it decides to. Also the speed of my car and the speedometer are out of sync as the car will sometimes rev high, no speed/power and then all of a sudden the power kicks back in and the two are sync'd.

When I say syn'd I mean working as they should be.

I've recently had all plugs changed and had a new hose leading to the manifold as it had a crack in it.

Any ideas?

Not sure,

I've been told by another mechanic it's the transmission. Could it be that?

Check engine light came on, got the codes read by Advanced Auto Parts and it pulled up Speed Sensor codes. No idea where to begin on how to replace these myself. Can anyone point me in the right direction, e.g. Where the sensor is located? Is there more than one? etc

Speed sensors are located near the tailshaft of the transmission, see E4 in the attached diagram.

Mine was doing the exact same thing. Took the VSS (Vehicle speed sensor) out off the back end of the tranfer case and the little black gear had chips in it. I replaced the black gear and the speedometer was better but at times would bounce at hiway speeds then hit zero and the expy would lose all forward gears. Took a Deeper look and this is what I found.....

this repair can easily be done on the vehicle and parts are available. I just opted to rebuild the transfer case cause mine has alot of miles
