I've got a '12 Expedition Limited that i recently purchased. At slow (parking lot) speeds with the steering wheel turned left or right, i hear a squealing noise, almost as if something isn't lubricated. When i start driving with the wheel straight, it disappears.

To be clear, the squealing noise happens with the the tires/wheels turning, ie it's not engine speed related, nor is it caused from the the act of turning the steering wheel (i don't think it's the power steering). It happens with the steering wheel already turned left or right in the same constant position, but the car itself turning right or left at slow speed.

Any ideas? Should I be concerned about this or just a minor annoyance?

Is it lifted?

Nope, bone stock.
Check all the rubber boots around the ball joints and make sure none are torn, tighten all the nuts down just to make sure none are loose, and if you have a second set of hands, have someone turn the steering wheel while you look uunderneath just to see if anything is rubbing. I had a noise issue with my 16 after I lifted it but it was just rubbing on steering stops so I lubed them up and haven’t heard it since

Can be caused by many things.

While turning apply light brake pedal pressure & still turning to eliminate the pads as the source. Should it stop squealing check the wheel bearings for looseness.

It’s most certainly wheel bearings if it’s only when the wheels are turning. It could also be brake pads that are too tight, I just replaced mine at my brother-in-law’s shop… we could hardly pry the pads apart because whoever did them previously didn’t lube the tabs or the pins and they wouldn’t release.
