Yup, that's where it was on my 4.6, I just replaced mine in December. I think there are 2 bolts that come out towards the front of the truck, and 1 from the back, the 1 in the back was a PITA to find and get to, but it goes back together much easier. And I think mine cost $150 at the parts store with a core charge.
well how about this, mine starts usually, then sometimes not at all, i wait a day and it starts back up, i read it could just be corrosion on the terminals on the starter?
If you haven't you should check for corrosion, next time it doesn't start, turn your ignition to run, then put a pliers or something on both sides of your starter solenoid in the engine bay. If it starts, then your solenoid is bad and much cheaper to replace.
hah ik about the starter solenoid trick, thats what i was hoping it was but of course it had to be the starter, we tried hammer and it still wont go, the starter is pronounced dead! bout to get a new one for 70 bucks from a local shop
