Steering / driving difference between 2002 and 2001 years?

I believe I read somewhere that there was a change in the steering sector on the 2002 and that the steering handles better due to that. Does anyone have any details on that? I seem to remember driving an older 1st gen and not liking the steering compared to my 02. Thinking about getting a 2nd Expy and prefer to have the same steering as mine so I figure I need to stay with a 2002 model.
