Hey guys, I need some help.
2001 2wd Eddie Bauer Expedition, ~190,000 miles and counting. While turning either direction going >10mph, the steering has a rhythmic left-and-right pulsation. It's significant enough that it has me worried I'll overcorrect and swerve either off the road or into oncoming traffic. Power steering fluid is topped off, no noise coming from the pump while turned in either direction. I just bought this SUV so I'm no salty Expy vet here. What could it be?
Thanks in advance!

I would check your ball joints. You can see if you have other issues with steering or wheel bearings as well. Jack up the front on either side and secure it on a jack stand. Grab the bottom of the wheel and pull it toward you. If the ball joint is bad you'll feel it move. If they have never been done and you have 191K on it odds are they are due for replacement. Could be steering components like tie ride ends as well, pitman arm, etc.

You could also check the front tires itself. Feel the thread area all around for bulging spots or signs of uneven thread wear.

These trucks are known to eat up front end components. Plan on replacing control arm bushings, ball joints, hubs or bearings and inner/outer tie rod ends eventually. At that mileage I would go ahead and do it all in one shot if you are able.
