I just bought a 2016 Expedition EL limited. It has a switch above the dimmer control. I can't figure out what it does and I don't see it in the owners manual. It doesn't look aftermarket. I attached a pic.

Also, what's the procedure for resetting the door code if you don't know the door code to start with?
Thanks!!

That switch is aftermarket. I would take a look uneer the dash to see if you can follow the wires running to it.

I'm not sure on the 16 but on all the previous models the door code was labelled under the dash

The door code is on a white label on a box in the passenger footwell. Right above the fuse box if I remember correctly.
Heaven knows what the switch does but it's definitely aftermarket.
Found this, hope it helps.

Ugh. When I bought it I thought it turned the interior lights on/off. I was wrong on that.
It might keep the lights off when you open the door. Some Fords used to do that for sleeping babies.

If you got the original manual and the case it came in there will be a business card size card with the door code also.

If both of those are missing then the dealer can get it by looking up the VIN, I believe.

Just a wild guess... since it's above the dimmer control it would seem logical for the on/off switch to have something to do with the cabin lights. Is it maybe to turn cabin lights on when doors are closed? You would have figured that one out so probably not. Does it maybe turn the lights off when the doors are open?

Is the toggle the dimmer or does it adjust delay for how long lights stay on once you close the doors? Maybe it turns the delay off? Is there another switch that turns cabin lights on? So many questions :).

The more I look at that little switch, it doesn't appear to be as integrated into the dash as I thought so perhaps everyone is right about it being aftermarket. So could be the ejection seat enable button MrSticker was describing... is there a bright yellow pull handle under the driver's seat?

That switch was definitely added by a previous owner. I have a bag full of the exact same one. Who was the previous owner?

That is what the switch directly below it does.

Looks like you’ll have to pull the dash and follow the wires.

Wait till its dark, start the truck and turn everything on. Then flip the switch and see what happens.

Ejection seat! You guys like me are showing your age with early James Bond gadgets. That was cool when James jettisoned his passenger 50 feet and gone!

Aftermarket for sure! My guess would be they had Aux lights or something like that.
