While i was doing an oil change on my 1999 ford expedition my little sister was messing around with the 4x4 switch. when i turned it on i noticed it was on 4x4 high, after it was making weird noises i guess because its on 4x4 high but anyway i try putting back and i cant go back to the regular 4awd it keeps doing the same noise. I tried reading the manual tried doing the following steps, Stop the vehicle, put it on neutral and shift it back to 4awd but no solution. I did some research and most problem was a bad transfer case motor. i went to the store and bought one and now it wont go in??? does it fit all years. Ive notice that on the bad one the arrow is point at different location...
Can some one help me.?? please
its a 1999 ford expediton 5.4l engine Xlt with 170k miles

If it is stuck in 4hi, you can try moving it back to 2wd by twisting the nub on the transfer case. It is kinda hard bu can be done. The motor should slide on then.

Plug the wire in and turn knob to 4high. Should line up with transfer case if that's what its stuck in.

in the Battery Junction Box Fuse 104 under hood
in the Central Junction Box Fuse 23 and 15 under dash

Check fuses with a meter not just by looking at them
