In the beginning, I was happy with the stock bulbs that came with my Expo. The low beams usually "did the job" especially when used in conjunction with the fog lights. The high beams were good for night time driving.
One day, while browsing the local Advanced auto parts store, I saw they had a sale on the SilverStars. So I decided to buy both the high and low beam bulbs. After getting them installed at Goodyear (I couldnt get the driver side headlight off) I eagerly wanted to test the difference. But, considering all the street lights in Orlando, I couldnt really notice the difference.
Every so often, I come back to Chobee from Orlando to visit....and for mom's cookin' I usually prefer driving at night since there arent that many cars. It was during these trips that I can see the difference.
Okay, enough talk
There is definately a hint of blue to the light(Not ricer blue). The road signs seem to reflect back more light, so they do seem brighter.
But, as far as being able to "see" more/further, that is debatable. If anything, its slightly more than the already far-seeking stock bulbs.
Overall, Im happy with the bluer hint to the light, which IMHO is more appeasing to the eye at night. To some people, spending 60 bucks for a bluer tint in the light may not be worth it, but I like it. Basically, if you are happy with the illumination range of the stock 2003 bulbs/headlight, then dont change them. But if you're looking for a more HID look, slightly brighter lights, and you have some cash to burn, then getting these bulbs is a pretty good choice
I give them a 8/10
*Next step, getting fog lights that match the bluer look of the bulbs *
