I need to take my 2019 into the dealer for the following recalls:

1) Seatbelt
2) PCM reprogram for emissions

I know there's been a lot of talk about the PCM/TCM for the reprogramming of transmission shift points. My question is, does the expedition have a separate TCM or is it combined into the PCM?

I am trying to make sure I get the latest update to ensure my transmission gets the latest software. Is there anything I need to tell them specifically to get this done? If integrated I assume that the latest PCM update is the best and latest?

Let me know how long it all takes, I have both sitting here needing to be done apparently. Reprogram shouldn't take long, but I'm more concerned about the seat belts and parts availability.

Im not taking mine in voluntarily for any of these recalls. Ill wait for the dealer to call me and offer to do it in my driveway. Useless recalls IMO to be without my vehicle sitting at the dealer until they decide to do something that wont actually do something.

My vehicle is been fine since 2019

We've got at least one member who had the unpleasant seat belt experience. It's real and it does do something. And your vehicle will be useless once it goes off and you can't use the seatbelt until you get it fixed.

I contacted my dealer, said that when the parts are available, I'll get the official letter. I have the PCM letter but not the seatbelt letter. I'll let the PCM slide till I get the other letter. Mine will probably take a bit since mine isn't in the original recalled group, but rather in the expanded group.

My husband and I are going to look at a 2019 Expedition tomorrow and I saw there was these 2 recalls. Is the PCM one serious, I don’t really understand what it means. Do we not buy it??IMG_0575.png

It's a recall, nothing to buy, they will "Fix" your vehicle for free. It's a reprogram for a module that might throw an error light when it shouldn't. I personally am not too worried about that one, but will get it fixed.

If I were here, you would know it !

FYI, Daarud said he is looking to buy the truck and found out about the recalls, so he is wondering whether he should consider buying something else because of this...

And yes, it will be fixed for free, so if I were him, I would insist that the work be done AND verified BEFORE sealing the deal, but that's just my opinion :D

I took mine last week for both the emissions and powertrain software update.
The emissions update reprograms so the catalytic converter warning code does not pop up prematurely. The Drive Train Power module update addresses the transmission shifting erratically, causing abnormal shifting and slippage.
I highly recommend having any recall performed, as they address issues that may cause damage in the future. They are free and take less than a day to get done. Some dealers also offer on-site service for reprogramming.
For me, I was getting the emissions error code and my tranny would occasionally act weird. All that is gone now.

My 2019 has original non-rebuilt transmission and at 130K. Clunks, downshifts erratic at times. Hunts. I've done a drain and fill and also a filter change. Thank you for this information, I will get the Drive Train Power.

I just talked to a Ford service rep today . The seat belt thing is still pending he said that there wasn’t an official fix yet.

The emissions one he said is listed as a 1/2 day time bracket but he said dealers often claim full day so told me if its an issue push for 1/2 day turnaround

Quick update everyone. I have my APT setup to take mine in on Monday June 16th. I will keep everyone updated with how long, if I was impacted by Seatbelt, etc. My check engine is currently on for the catalytic efficiency, ha!

Interesting enough my pretensioner part numbers were included in the affected batch. Thanks @Mr Big for alerting us all to this. I am sleeping a little easier knowing my family is safe from this.

Just a quick final update, both left and right (Driver and Passenger) were replaced. Dealer told me they aren't keeping these units in stock, rather bring your in, check to see if it's part of the group, THEN ordering parts on demand for your vehicle.

Makes sense since there's not enough units in the system to perform all the recalls presently. Still waiting on my letter saying there's enough in stock to bring mine in.

Just received the letter for seatbelts, and currently in for PCM programming (and a front differential rebuild….ugh). The letter stated that the parts are not available. I had got a letter about the seatbelts some time ago (maybe 6 months?), but forgot about it; can’t recall if they had parts then.
