I thought my truck just was dirty until I washed it and realize all the black stuff was tar. Evidently our trip to New York a couple weeks ago was rough on my truck! Any ideas guys, to remove this car without ruining the top coat?

Jeff I've always used a good tar remover like Dupont in the past. Never had any problems with paint. Of course wax the area after getting tar off.

Diesel or kerosene, WD40. Just splash some on an old rag and it'll immediately break down the tar. 3 wipes and done. All the other citrus based crap isn't going to cut it for several minutes. And there is no way I'd use a buffer on tar.

No. 7 (Cyclo) Bug and Tar Remover is good you can find it, much more effective than household strength Goo Gone / Goof Off.

Good point on the buffer on tar could make it worse.... didn’t even think about that
