Damn, I would ask to see all 8 of them. Why isn't there a good strong oe spark plug out there?

That's why I do all my own work. Was you rear axle pinion leaking or did they find that? I would always be skeptical unless they show it to you. It isn't the dealership it's the people and it could be any shop for that reason.

Friend was told he needed his instrument panel repaired and recalibrated due to the dreaded odometer light. Was told it would cost $300.00 so it could pass inspection. I was with him and I told the owner that it was a common problem on a 99 expy and it was due to a cold solder joint. When I told him I knew what it was and that all he had to do was to smack the dash board to get the odometer to read. He backed off at that point. And stated that he was knew that was a problem. He wasn't happy about me being there. So many shops charge for to many things that aren't really necessary That was at a private shop.

No it was leaking, that was actually the excuse to get everything else done. It was leaking on my garage floor and I took a look and the axle seals were fine but the pinion seal was leaking pretty bad.

I did see all the plugs, they lol separated but one which broke half way out but they didn't charge me for it.

II'm not sure what I think of the PCM update, it definitely drives differently that's for sure. If they wouldn't have thrown it in I don't know of if it was worth paying for.

What wires did they replace? Your truck doesn't have plug wires.

How much was the axle seal? Everything other item they did seems like they should each be under $100, even at dealership prices?

Yes sorry, they did not replace the wires. The service manager kept correcting me but old sayings die hard.

I was just making sure they didn't charge you for something they didn't actually change.

I had the dealership I was buying my 07 Limited from change them as part of the purchase agreement. Told them I would walk away from the truck if they didn't. They ended up breaking two of them. What is the PCM reflash you referenced? Does Ford have an update for the PCM or is it something aftermarket?

I have an 07, dealer told me today there was a PCM upgrade. I didn't do it, I wanted to look it up first. Of course they didn't say what version I was on or what the new one was.

I just looked on the invoice, I should have said plugs and coil boots (no wires, you would think at 30 I wouldn't be making these types of mistakes).

Anyways as to the PCM update, the transmission shifts much smoother but beyond that I cannot tell any difference. They said I had the original PCM version in my vehicle.

Typically dealers charge $60-100 per plug that breaks. All eight plugs broke according to the dealer.....

I thought the spark plug problem was only in the '04 - '05 3-valve engines.

Doesn't the 04 still use the 2V engine? The two piece plugs were used until late 08. That's when they changed to the one piece plugs. That being said I've been lucky and changed two sets of plugs without breaking them. Both were changed around the 50K mark and used every trick in the book. My current plugs in the Expy have about 30K on them and I'm thinking about changing them just to be safe.
