I have started down the path of deleting my third row.

I don't ever used them and I would like to drop some weight for towing purposes.

I recently picked up the SSV rear cargo parts from a local company who does custom SSV cabinetry and stuff for law enforcement and emergency personnel vehicles. Before I start, I want to get an accurate curb weight of how it sits now.

It looks like it is only 6 bolts for installation. I am not sure how many to remove the existing third row seats, but it can't be much more than 6-12 I am guessing. I am not sure how much I will get done in September, but I should have the project completed by the end of October. I will be updating this thread with plenty of pictures and explanations, if warranted.

Will be watching out of curiosity only, as on the rare occasion, we do haul 6-8 people with us.

Nice. I was thinking about doing the same to my 2014. Not because I tow a lot, but I never will use the 3rd row and could use more storage.

I'd love to know much much space savings you get with the rear removed, and if you're able to level it off. The slope annoys me a bit.
In the 8 years I've had a vehicle with 3rd row seating, I've used it all of 4 times. But would love to throw a go-bag, comprehensive med kit, road side setup, etc. under that area.

Very interested in this project as I am looking to do the same (after my Timberline arrives in December).

Is this for a max or regular? Looking to do something on a non max xlt. I tow so have concerns about loss of weight for stability and such, also for regular driving.

This will be done in a 2022 Timberline, so it is a standard length. They do make a Max option. The guy I bought mine from might consider shipping from Northern VA. He works at a place that builds out Emergency vehicles — Police, EMT, Fire, etc. The owner decided to sell them instead of trashing them.

Starting 21 November, I am off work for the rest of the year. I might wait until then to begin the work.

Thinking of what I can do since I have Captain’s Chairs in the second row. The replacement is that hard foam and might not look good. Thinking of glueing black auto carpet or folding the third row weather mat and wedge it in place. Once I have the third row seats removed and the parts temporarily in place, I will have a better understanding of my options.
