Maybe this is a dumb question but after I got my cam phasers done I noticed that my throttle seems to be capped at 3800 RPMs when I am not in gear, no matter how hard I stomp on the pedal.

Is this normal for all of our GEN4’s?

If so, seems weird and I’ve never had a car in my life that was restricted throttle when it wasn’t in gear.

Never mind, I guess they don’t like us to do hot shots anymore so they took away our revving capability. lame.

(Not that I would do hot shots anyway)

you must mean most with automatic trans?

my ‘13 touareg diesel (auto) does not - although it’s “old” now (& castrated to boot)

never driven a stick with a limit when it’s not in gear.

i guess this is my first experience having the nanny throttle!

thanks obama!

Rental Car Procedure #1: transmission in Neutral, Full Throttle to rev limiter, put transmission in 1st gear. Note some Cadillacs will reduce the RPM's further, to approx. 1200 before engaging 1st gear.
