Hi all,
97 expedition 5.4
There has been a slow leak out of the torque converter bellhousing for quite some time now - it's wet and drips real slow out of that round rubber plug on the very bottom there.
From what I understand, there shouldn't be any fluid in there right? It should just be sealed within the torque converter? (Btw, the fluid coming out is dark black)
I found a post on fordf150.net for draining the torque converter so I'll try and follow that (I'm a little intimidated though) I'll just have a look to see what's going and hopefully it's the t.c. plug that is lose?
What else should I look for or do? I've never personally worked on the transmission components in my car so I'm not too familiar with all this.
Do I refill the t.c.or will it fill by itself when transmission is running? Anyways, I want to know what I might expect when i take rubber seal off bellhousing.
Any input would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
