My wife and I have been stalking the Craigslist pages for the perrrrfect camper, and just yesterday, WE FOUND IT!

Unfortunately, since I've never towed anything more than a lawn-mower trailer behind her, I didn't know what she could handle.
I did the math.
The math made me sad. :nono:

I have a 2004 XLT 4x4 4.6V8 3.73gear...
What we have googley eyes for is a 2002 Keystone Outback 25RS-S.
The best numbers I can get (not from Keystone's site) is that the Outback weighs in (unloaded) at about 4,750#.
Ford's website says my truck's GCWR is 10,700#.
My truck weighs 5,500# dry.

[carry the one...]

That leaves 5,200# for fuel, passengers, gear, WDH & trailer.
We established that the trailer weighs 4,750#.
That leaves 450# for fuel, passengers, gear & WDH...

MY FAMILY OF 5 W/3 LIL' ONES WEIGHS MORE THAN 450#!!!
...and we're not Fatty McButtertons...

Even with the 5.4 it can only pull another 1,000#!
I've got more than that in gear & gas!
What the ever lovin heyall?!?!?
:wtf:
I've read a bunch of posts y'all have...posted...talking about your 6,500# (and up) hauls.
Does everybody have a HD Trailer Tow Package allowing them a GCWR of 14,500?
Maybe I've got a little displacement envy going on, but... :Whoa:
...do I need to roll a F-frickin-350 to pull a camper?

Help. :help:
I can't get my wife to stop crying... :hidesbehindsofa:

Thanks in advance for any sage advice you can give. :hail:

So I know it's not Ford's website, but this lists your towing capacity at 5000 lbs.
2004 Ford Expedition Specifications

And your GCWR at 14,500 lbs.

The GVWR is 7050. Which leaves about 1500 lbs for fuel, cargo and people.

Now common knowledge should say that towing capacity + GVWR = GCWR. However if you do the math on the site I linked, it doesn't quite add up. I only get 12,050 lbs.

Personally, I think you'll be fine with your wimpy 4.6L. :happy107:
