ok, after pricing out tires from discount tire direct...the LT's are actually 11 dollars cheaper than the P's, the LT would be on back and P up front for towing mt 3500 pop up. is it ok? I think it is I just need some second guesses

no but i figure they will be the same size, same tire, same tread depth, but the backs will be LT because those turned out to be cheaper than the P rated tires for some wierd reason..

they have the same revolutions per mile, ssame size, its just that one is LT and cheaper and has 17/32 tread depth and one is P, more expensive, and it has 14/32 of tread. if there was any difference in total height or dimensions then the revolutions would be different so I do not think that the LTs are any bigger than the P's

why are lt's cheaper now than the p's were like a month ago? its wierd!

honestly you can do this... the LT tires will ride more rough and be more noisy... the P rated tires will carry all the weight that you can put on your expy...

the total touge weight for your trailer is probly around 400-500lbs max so your really not putting that much more on the truck...

your brakes would be a bigger concern from my point...

another thing to consider is the LT tires will have a differnt RPM.. (rotations per mile ) then the P rated so 4 wheel drive maybe a concern...

from what i looked at on tire rack, they have the same rotations per mile. but if its a huge problem ill just shell out for the p's even though it makes no sence. theres less tire for more money? why!! it makes me mad!

as long as the revs per mile are with in 3% of each other you will be fine and im guessing the LT's have more tread..

im running 10ply tires on mine and the ride is just fine soo it really depends on you...

thanks, i didnt know about the 3% number. i believe thr revs per mile is somthing like 657 for each P and LT tire and the tread depth is different but if it was really any taller then the revs would be off. Ill probally go with the LT's just because of the price and the fact that its better for towing. its a heavy vehicle and it needs to be supported!

The only thing that I belive you would not be happy with is the ride. LT rated tires get there load carry capacity from high tire pressure ( aprox 80psi ) if you run them lower than they will carry NO more than the P rated tires.

The reason the ride will get "rougher" is because of that high pressure the tire will bounce more over the smallest little bumps.

Like stated before with the really small amount of tounge weight you will be adding ( you figure 10% so 350 to 400 lbs max ) the LT rated tire is really not worth the harsh ride. I have done alot of towing on P rated tires and have never had a problem, but then again if I am going to do any REALLY HEAVY towing I use the deisel with 10 ply's!

1 the rear axle can only carry so much weight(door sticker) putting a LT on it will not increace that weight
2 the OEM tire is capable of of doing what your asking (i tow a TT with mine )
3 a 3500 lb trailer (if loaded wright) should only have a toung weight of 350 lbs
