picked up my first trailer, shes a '97 Jayco Hawk 20ft with a GVW 4,400 Lbs.

its been in the family since 2002, spent the last 10 years down in Seward,AK parked mostly. my uncle would live in it during the summers well down there fishing.

needs a good cleaning inside/out, re pack the bearings, fix the heater and i should be ready to go camping!

picked it up today in Seward and pulled it about 130 miles home.

Thats really cool! Honestly, did the MPG even drop towing that with the Excursion? My family and I really enjoy camping with a travel trailer. Especially when the camper hasn't been winterized and you hook up the water to find a nice water feature from the hot water tank. I say that to say, make sure you winterize the water pipes.

oh trust me we know about winterizing them. normally do that in September. it goes along with all the other random things we have to winterize up here for the long cold winter.

yes, MPG does drop a good bit when towing. normally on the highway not towing i can get up to 14.5 mpg. towing MPG is 7-8mpg. but you have to remember i'm going up and down mountains constantly.

we took it out on our first trip a few weeks ago. absolutely love it! turns out the furnace does work!.

I always love the pictures you post. Alaska is beautiful! Thanks for the info as well. I guess my truck getting 10mpg is pretty good towing our 26" camper. We have mountains here as well. Which is why I'm upgrading the cooling system. The last time I took it out some of the long slow climbs really heated up the motor.

Very nice. Nothing like a camping trip. That's a very good sized camper. Small enough to camp many places that a longer one couldn't get to. Sure looks beautiful up there. It's on my list of places to travel to.
