Ok since they quit making the edge for expeditions after what is it '03 I think, which tuner is the one to go with?

Which ones do you guys have if any?

I have a buddy with an SCT on a f-series and it is wicked :flamingdevil:, does anybody know anything about these??

Im really wanting a tuner but want a good one, so any shared knowledge or opinions will be appreciated!

It's not as much what tuner you have, but who tunes it. Usually, the tunes the come with the devices are rather mild. It's better to get something that is customized for your truck.

There's also PHP (Power Hungry Performance, I think). I believe the guy who does it is an ex-programmer for Edge.

Look into Mike @ five star tunning. I have heard nothing but positive reviews over on fordtrucks.com and they rave about his customer service too.

I just purchased a SCT X3 custom programmer for my 2000 ford expy last week so I don't have a lot of time with it yet. Mine did not come with preloaded programming, I had a local tuner JJ from Woodbine Motorsports program mine. He included it in the price of the unit. ($379 + tax). I needed the custom tune version because I plan to do major modifications in the near future that will require it. With this device you just plug it in to flash the program to your computer and remove it. It does require you to save your stock programming to the device the first time and you must also reflash the stock program back before you may program another vehicle. This is how they keep you from programming as many expys as you like. I can make all kind of adjustments to the "base" program my tuner installs if I wish. It can also datalog pcm inputs or view in real time if you have it plugged in.

It is a noticable difference over stock. I had the tuner firm up the shifts under heavy throttle and that is very noticable. The user can adjust just about everything from timing to shift points. The tuner installed 3 different programs, 87, 91 tow, 93 as he labeled them. Of course these are octane tunes. He recommended I use 91 octane tune with the highest octane for towing. It sounds very similar to the edge in function. The edge is a lot nicer looking unit if you plan to display it although the SCT has a touchscreen version also for quite a bit more $$.

I love the laptop application for SCT. It's a little tricky getting it set up and then being able to read it going down the road, but it does a LOT of sensor monitoring. It's useful for checking O2 sensor readings side by side on an oscilliscope looking graph, you can see if one is slower to respond than the other.

MPG Mods

How about a 5.4L Eddie Bauer 2wd mpg upgrade. Getting 14.5 average . I would like to get more and already added just the K&N filter. I am an Amsoil dealer and thought about moving over to synthetic. I have been running it in my '99 F250 7.3L for about 60,000 and it works great! Any ideas will be great. Ive got the wife breathing down my neck about it. LOL!!

Superchips :).

I use it on my 03 and it works great on top of that i use ScanXL Pro and an OBDII Bluetooth adapter to really dig in deep.

Either way you go its worth it.
