1. Yes. Somewhere in the middle of these two curvesOk can someone get back on topic and help me with two questions?
1. Tuning a platinum with the 91 octane 5 star tune will show noticeable improvements, correct?
2. For those who tuned, did you get a warranty with it?
Your Expedition 'is' factory tuned for 91 octane. Read your owners manual, under fuel. A fill up of 91 should bring a small power increase. A 93 tune will advance timing, which will increase detonation. It will lean, the fuel mixture. It overrides the knock sensor and rev limiter, 2 safety features. It will override the transmission module, shift points.Ok can someone get back on topic and help me with two questions?

It is not “tuned” for 91, it recommends 93 for optimal power while towing. With a FULL 93 OCTANE CUSTOM TUNE, custom in HUGE letters, they change air to fuel ratios, increase boost, along with several other parameters that allows for these hp and torque increases. These trucks are built to run on high octane being turbo charged. You might gain 10-15hp running 93 over 87.Your Expedition 'is' factory tuned for 91 octane. Read your owners manual, under fuel. Let a reputable company custom tune this truck and your tapping into power that Ford left on the table in these engines. Again, you wouldn’t have a clue as you don’t wven own an ecoboost that’s been tuned. Quit being a doubter and just come to the realization that your dragging this thread the wrong way
How is the additional fuel delivered? How is this 'boost' made? By the computer? Ugh NO! Why didn't FORD set the boost higher? Maybe they thought, owners don't want more power or the head gaskets will blow? What is a 'tuning house'? How does the factory, 'single' exhaust support 550-600hp? You do not have own one, to question these ridiculous claims. Why don't you get the facts before lashing out at everyone who uses a tune
The knock senors are not disabled
The fuel system is not LEANED
Here are some REAL FACTS
I have owned 6 3.5L Ecoboost vehicles
4 Gen One's with Livernois calibrations
2 Gen Two's now with 5 star calibrations
ZERO mechanical issues with any of them (never saw a need to purchase their extended warranty)
Calibrations from reputable tuning houses also reprogram the 10SPD transmission for much better shifting qualities
The boost a max does indeed increase manifold pressure but does not reprogram the transmission to match the increased output of the engine.
Stock Turbos are easily capable of 20 PSI manifold pressure & above (that is an established fact)
Gen II Fuel systems are capable of supplying enough fuel to support 550-600 crankshaft hp
Stock Intake & exhaust system capable of enough flow to support 550-600 crankshaft HP
Tuning Makes a huge difference
Since you obviously have no experience with the ECOBOOST engines please stop bashing anyone who owns tuned ECOBOOST vehicles & let them share their experiences with those who are considering tuning as an option
Merry Christmas Everyone
You will still get put in your seat with a 91 perf tune. I love my 93 perf tune, especially when unsuspecting victims try out running me in f150s, other expeditions, and some smaller cars too. ByyyeeeeeeeThe 93 tune is desired, but my gas stations only have 91 and it’s not recommended to do a tune above the fuel you use.

No I did not. I’m not racing it or dogging the crap out of it. Just wanted that extra power that I know this motor (6speed) can handle. 5 Star has been doing great work with the new 10 speeds from what I’ve seen latelyThanks! Did you get a warranty too?
yesWhen reading the stock setup is it Normal for the car to freak the **** out?
Edit: what I mean is flash a bunch of crap (including errors) on the driver display, then go back to Normal?
By the way, the ride seems to be working just fine after reading the stock file...I just thought it was weird how the car behaved during the reading 'session'.

It is not up to dealer to approve major warranty claims, its the district Ford Rep. He will no doubt, want answers, why something major failed. The dealer will provide it, through a 'black box' download, that no customer can see.I also highly doubt my dealer, whom I know pretty well at this point, is going to freak out on errors in a system (that may or may not exist) to an owner who just spent 80K with them.
