how much modification to the engine bay and mounts were needed to make the v10 fit? does the tranny bolt right up? how is the gas mileage?

mounts just require a flip around. the v8 fit the v10. Tranny bolts right up and mileage is great. 23 on the highway and about 15 in town. That data has been verified on two 1100 mile trips to CO. As far as mods go. the electrical is the hardest. Engine connector on the v8 is on the left whereas on the v10 its on the right. That was the hardest part out of it all. And I built the V10 in my kitchen.

Loved it

just thinking about it...the expedition is a good bit lighter then my excursion..that extra power would really make her move even in stock form...wheels are turning in my head since i have a donor '00 V10 out of my wrecked '00 excursion just sitting there. damn! lol

A 4bt is goin to be the plan if the 5.4 ever gives out. Hard to beat the simplicity of a Cummins. And I'm sure fummins online or destroked can come up with just about anything needed.
