Just want some opinions on this bill, came out a lot higher than I would have expected.

'08 Expedition EL 4x4 - replace front pinion seal, and perform TSB 8-22-7.

The TSB was to upgrade the firmware on the transmission / PCM and a short driving procedure. Pinion seal part was very inexpensive, plus a quart of oil (gear oil maybe?)

Total was approx $420, almost all labor. It's hard to tell from the invoice, but I'm guessing I was charged 4 hours labor. Does that seem resonable or was I overcharged?

Found a post on another site talking about changing the pinion seal, and it mentioned 2 hours ~ $200 is right. Still not sure on the TSB though?

Sounds like it.

I had the TSB done awhile back and my dealer rate was $92.50 per hour and that's how much they charged for the reprogram. So I would think it's only a one hour job ( if the tech knows what he/she is doing )

Also, was it the front "axle" seal that was replaced ? I had this done too but it was covered by my ESP warranty so I can't comment on how much it would have cost.
