I have really enjoyed reading this forum since I joined right after I got my 2018 XLT, and although I think it's a nice vehicle, after 10 months I am going back to a pickup, just ordered a 2019 Lariat crew, 6.5 V8.

Truth is, I just never warmed up to the Expedition, I really can't say anything bad about it as it has been a good vehicle and in 30,000 miles I have had no issues with it whatsoever, but I miss my V8, and for some dumb reason the seats in this (mid grade leather) kill my back on long trips, no matter how much I screw with the lumbar/power seat adjustments.

Wishing you all dry roads and sunny skies!!!!!

I too am not a huge fan of a V6 TT in the Expy vs a NA V8. But we run with what we are given. Hope you like your new F Series!

V8TT Would have been nicer, but IMO V8 NA is little outdated or too much old school. If you think of the technology they are putting into these engines these days, V6TT is a perfect fit for this car. enough power to get around while the fuel efficiency is still there.

I come from owning many BMW regular/M cars/SUV, and they have been proven successful running v6 or v8 TT. The turbo is a beautiful marriage when it is used correctly on these engines. When I was looking for truck, I chose the F150 in a heartbeat when they came out the V6TT engine, smaller engine but have a lot potential if you want to upgrade/mod compare to a regular NA engine. When I found out the Expedition has basically the same setup like the F150, I purchased this SUV only based on the reviews I see through youtube (no test drive or whatsoever), sounds crazy but I'm very happy with this purchase.

I feel like Ford is following many BMW features (except the looks) in their later produced vehicle these days, and this is the right path IMO. Those who have long term bimmer experiences can probably verify this. These two brands are now my favorite as they are easier to switch over and enough fun to drive around. Well, for the Ford I don't have to be too careful since the repair cost is much cheaper. lol

Congrats on your new pickup. 5.0L Coyote or 6.2L Boss? Both are great engines, the new 5.0 V8/ 10 speed is a good combo. Gets an average 19-20 MPG and is lightning fast. The 6.2L is more thirsty but well worth it for the cast iron block and more robust build, things bulletproof. I prefer the V8 as well.

It is the F150 with the 5.0 can't get the 6.2 any longer in the halfton.

Yeah J, that's the truck I want. A F150 with the 390 hp 5.0 Coyote with 10speed. I've heard the new 10 speed has some hiccups in all the vehicles. Don't have the [emoji383] now anyway, so just keep plugging along with my big green Eddie!

395 hp this year, though we are splitting hairs here :D. I’m sure it will be rated at 400 even the next model year or so. I’ve heard ford understates the hp on it anyway, likely closer to 400 now. In the Mustang GT it’s rated 460 hp/ 420 lb ft bone stock with the more aggressive cams. Again, likely understated from what the dynos have shown....

Your right it was 395. Can you imagine the fun with 85 more hp than a 5.4 expedition, and 500 pounds lighter to boot. Let's see now, a little computer tweaking, a K&N filter, better exaust. Just don't buy it in Red, you'll vaporise your license in a year! A 160 mph pickup, it would need a Nascar type wing to keep the tail down. All with 18mpg.

Love the 5.0. I still like my cast iron 5.4L 3V/ 6R75 with 3.73 gears. When I step on the go pedal it goes, and being an XLT regular length mine is about as fast as they get for the early 3rd gens. It will squeeze to 60 sub 8 seconds, pretty good for a 5,805 pound house of its era. Ford claims 7.5 seconds on my setup but I think that’s a bit optimistic, it has broken the tires loose a few times when I stomped on it. Now a 5.0L would be great in the expy, forget it your spinning the wheels hehe. The 5.0 performs up high where the 5.4L doesn’t! I also really like the 6.2L, a cast iron SOHC brute much like the 5.4L but with more juice.

What would be cool J is a 5.4or 5.7 version of the Coyote. 500 hp with 600lbs of torque. That would sure pull that 6,000 pound trailer up the grapevine hill here in California. They've already made the bigger Coyote motor for the Mustang. A few tweaks and it's off the shelf engineering for Ford. Like a Raptor Expedition option. Anyone here old enough to remember the 64 Pontiac tempest that they snuck by execs the first year? Called it GTO. Keep those letters coming to the Blue Oval.

For anyone wanting a NA 5.0 over a TT 3.5l....

If the 3.5l was tuned better from the factory you wouldn't feel that way.

Here at 5000+ Elevation, the NA V8 really struggles. At Sea level, much different results. Towing with a NA V8 is painful to say the least.

I just transitioned from a Yukon Denali with a 6.2L V8 to my 2017 Expy with the V6TT...and I consider it an upgrade in power/drivetrain. My Yukon would constantly upshift if I was going up even a modest hill against the wind. The Expy just digs deeper and torques over the hill...no upshifting. Pulls my 25' boat without breaking a sweat. Smooth with just a little V6 growl from under the hood. I have yet to find a reason to miss my V8.

Never understood some dislike for downshifting. That’s why you have an automatic transmission, to downshift and get the engine in it’s powerband to gain speed. Love when it downshifts and I hear that V8 growl. A turbocharged engine is working just as hard under load, look at its gas consumption despite the lower rpms. Those turbos are ramming a lot of extra air in to keep things moving. Your either working it via forced induction or RPMs. Both do the job just in different ways. I find the ecoboost relatively annoying to drive, esp the way it lugs down on hills with the 6 speed.
