No totaled but beaten.
so the Tex DOT decided this week to take down a traffic light that controls 8 lanes of traffic across five potential turns or straight through, according to fire department this is number five just for this week
i am in the middle turn lane that goes LEFT, my turn and about half way through the intersection the expy jumps and and i probably said out loud crap or other nice words. turns out a buick enclave tried to climb in the rear cargo area via the rear wheel and lower qtr panel, the guy in the far left lane (turn) decided to go straight...

i felt bad as the driver was 84 year old from out of state. it crumbled his hood and broke some lights

lucky for all ..nobody was hurt. off to the body shop in the am to see if it will buff out or if i get some painting done
underneath looks same on both sides, so hopefully no hidden damage

Noooooooo! Glad you all are okay. Things can be replaced but people can't. We need someone to design a metal rear bumper with a side step or something....

That sucks, at least it's very minor damage to yours.

just got home from body shop..1277.67 to fix wheel, replace wheel trim piece, sand and repaint lower fascia, 4 wheel alignment , and rear sensor behind panel on the side, i got an intermittent fault this morning on it. the lower panel is ajar about 1/4 inch, but underneath the metal bracket is undamaged, but the wheel liner mud flap thing is bent.
now we wait on the other guys insurance to look at it. My insurance already met me at the body shop and just like last time four years ago, is fully engaged so by weds if the other company is slacking, it goes in and gets fixed.

best thing is no body on either side is hurt, or shaken up.
it just comes at a bad time as i have Metal ordered and need the expy to pull the trailer to go fetch it, i sure dont want to pay a 100 delivery fee.

Glad you didn't get injured. Mine's been to the body shop twice this year (very unusual for me) the first time was from the incident in the car wash, the other when we were moving and the trailer that I was towing came unhooked and the rear bumper cover and crack it

my insurance is ready to go now, i guess with Indiana insurance rules it must be different. I had to call them and file the claim against his insurance. I thought it was odd. as last time my company filed the claim agaisnt the state farm company, and still got my truck fixed and and whole again.
But tomorrow i plan to call mine and question the exact thing. Its not my fault so it should not impact my future premiums, plus my deductible of 250 should be reimbursed once my company files against his .at least that how it worked in 2014 when my 150 got smacked hard

That was what I thought was weird when we had the incident at the car wash. I called my insurance company and they said they could handle the claim but it would go against my insurance. I asked the same question and they said it didn't work that way, so I had to wait until the other guy's company settled the claim.

more i think of it, i am getting more confused. in 2014 the lady that took off the front of the f150, was cited and my insurance stepped in right away and got the truck in to be fixed. I got my deductible back after they had to go to insurance court (arbitration) with state farm, state farm ended up paying my insurance company back for the repairs and the deductible. So i assumed it would be same this time...it also never hit me in premiums at renewal time.
so as i sit here and stew, i think my agent gets a call first, then the adjuster from my insurance and then the guys insurance..i want my vehicle made whole and as far as i am concerned , it should have been friday.
i get the police report as well in the morning, maybe that will fire up a few folks to get me fixed

ok the skinny
farm bureau which is my insurer explained the confusion.
yes it can take it in now, and let them battle with the other guys carrier, and then when its settled i will get my deductible back.
if i take it in now, then i pay my deductible upon completion, no big deal to me its only 250.00, but was 500.00 . not sure why it dropped?
so she goes in to be made whole on monday 15 th.

the other guys insurance has many messages from me, but as yet failed to reply. typical, as they are in bus to protect pay outs . so we let the two companies settle it.

so my faith in HUMANS has been brought up 100 notches
Expy goes in monday to be fixed, and pick up rental on sunday.

But then last night, i get a call from the guy who hit me, to make sure his insurance was involved and wanted to make sure things were going well. He apologized again. I cant really blame him for the wreck. the traffic lights were REMOVED, no signs on side of road etc. But he got fined 200 from the local police plus 50 for court costs which he paid the next day on hos way back to indiana.

so i am mailing him a copy of police report and hope he goes after the Texas DOT for making a situation super dangerous when they should have done the work in a better way vice completely letting people fend for themselves at a dangerous intersection

You both should team up with your insurance companies and go after the state for the cost of repairs.

Driving rules vary a lot between areas... some places, intersections with no lights or signage are the norm

Insurance rules differ from state to state and in my case province to province. In Ontario we have a no-fault system. It doesn't mean no one is at fault. It simply means you deal with your own insurance company no matter whose fault it is. If it is determined your are at fault, you are on the hook for the deductible if you have one and your insurance rating is affected possibly meaning higher premiums.
On the deductible front, some policies will reduce the deductible every year you have no accidents.
