I checked my mileage going into Montana this weekend and got 16.5
That’s cruising at 70 and with A/T tires. No snow on the road and two mountain passes.Speed limit is 80 in Montana in this neck of the woods.

making sure you actually figured it out and didn't go by the lie-o-meter? Damn... Can't imagine 16.5... Must not have any ethanol in your fuel either?

Not all vehicles have inaccurate miles per gallon indicators. Many of mine have been quite accurate.
They've been quite low too because I drive big old vehicles.

18 Expy 4x4 Max.....21 Hwy/17.5 City
3.5 Eco, 10 speed

I know the new ones are good... I just said i have a hard time believing the original 5.4's that are 2 valve are getting that good of mileage. Nothing is impossible though

We have a 2018 expedition with a 3.15 axle and we are getting 18-19 mpg around town and 25 mpg at hwy speed 65-70 This is so much better then our Toyota Sequoia 07 with a 4.7 v-8 it got 14-15mpg around town and 18-19 mpg hwy .So far with 16000 miles it’s Great Jim

I've never hear of a 3.15 ratio but I'm not up on new ones.
I was just complaining about the 3.73.
They do all this new stuff, twin turbos (lots of needless hp for most) aluminum weight savings, 10sp trans etc and only get 2-3 more than a 2000.

Give me an aluminum 2000 design with lighter rear seat and seats, smaller V8 or 6cyl a 2.73 or 3.08 and 4r75W and I can get the same MPG as the new ones.

I agree. Bore and Stroke, displacement, total GVW, will not allow a 1st generation 2v 5.4 to accomplish 19mpg. NFW.

I also agree. I don't think any of them ever even hit 17 or 17.2 even with a light foot. I was just saying the other day though that it wouldn't take but a few of the similar modifications to the old style to get the same fuel mileage the new ones are getting. Part of my complaining about the twin turbos and all that. Because that's what I do best... Complain. I always say, go with what you know.
