I will be getting the old family 1998 Expy and I was wondering what type of work should I do to it? I'm already lifting it 6 inches and putting maybe 35s on it, as well as buying a grill guard, but what I was really wondering is several things: 1) should I put an air horn? 2) should I put a strip of red led light under the trunk door? and 3) should O change the roof rack and put the square type up there? All answers appreciated.

There are tons of accessories out there, it just takes some searching.

How far are you thinking about taking the 'off road' look?

Really how are we to answer that? The accessories you buy and equip is because you want it, not others. If that is what you want to go for it. Other than that advise, I do not know what to say, other than you decide what you want. There are tons of aftermarket out there to choose from.

And by the way, Welcome to the forum.

well i was thinking about mainly just lifting it and putting the tires on and a grill guard...but the thing is that i don't know whether or not to put that little strip of red led light on the back, like there aren't any videos or pictures to see what it would look like...that my main issue.

The light strip you are referring to does 2 things, it is a parking light that is shining when the lights are on and 2nd it acts as a third brake light or yet a 4th brake light as the Expy is equipped with a 3rd brake light already. I personally do not see the purpose to buy one when you can throw that money elsewhere. Like headlights as most are yellow from age, and or taillights to spruce it up a bit. And also a roof top cargo rack as you mentioned earlier. You can throw money at the front end and rear bushings and tie rods and balljoints as these older Expy's are in need of them usually when someone takes one over. things of that nature I would do first. Get it totally operational as it should then worry about the add ons. I always concern myself with safety and functionality vs looks up front, then after all that, go to town on the asthetics.

well for the most part our family's kept it in good condition....but the only thing is that we have a couple of dents and the tranny is a little old....but other that, its runs amazing...so i just planned to bring it to my mechanic and see what the major problems are and then do the upgrades....for now, i was just asking for opinion on how it would look like...but thanks for the advice tho :)

I suggest that you look at some of the trucks on the forum and draw your ideas from them. Pretty much everyone who's anyone with a tricked out Expy is here.
