I'm having a hard time in-visioning these tires on my expedition. so i have a 04 Eddie Bauer 4wd with stock rims and tires. stock size is 285 70 17. i want to put Firestone Destination M/T 285/70QR17 on the expedition. Will these tires fit without doing any alterations? and How do you think it will look?

Well, they are the same size as stock, so I would imagine that they would fit with no problems at all...unless I'm missing something here or misread what you wrote...but they look like a good fit and should look good on you Expedition.

if they are STOCK size then they will fit just like the tires that came off your Expedition but something tells me that you are gonna rub when you turn with those tires due to the tread.
BTW my 03 is 265/70/17

The 285 measurement is the section width or the cross section measurement in millimeters. It is the measurement of the widest part of the tire, sidewall to sidewall.

So, the 285 is 2 centimeters wider than the 265.

That page should help you plenty with understanding tire sizes. There are also plenty of other pages on the site that can help you decide on which tires to buy. Hope that helps. Good luck.

They might fit but that is an aggresive tread pattern.

They will likely rub, as has been commented. Your handling will be poor. Tried a set of muds myself. Scared me to have my family in the car w/ those on. Put the all-seasons back on and sold the muds to a buddy at the office....

Yeah, they looked grat but that was about all.

They will fit without rubbing. I have a '99 with 285/75/17 Toyos and don't have any problems. Especially since the M/T's are the same size as factory. I wouldn't be scared to put them on. You will notice that your steering will be more sensitive, and they might sing going down the road, but they are safe. I say go for it 110%.
