What happened?

yesterday i am driving with my wife and all is good. i stop at a red light and when it turns green my truck wont move. motor races &trans slips. i have serviced the trans every 30,000 miles. looked at the fluid and it is not burnt. i don't understand what went wrong. reverse works but all foward gears slip bad and you feel a vibration. any thoughts? how much am i looking at if i replace the trans? it is a 2005 EB with 122000 on it. i owned it since it was new so i know the trans was serviced reg.

05Expy, first off, do a level check of the tranny. If the fluid level gets too low, it will cause what you are seeing. Worst case, ad in a quart or two of fluid and see what happens. If the tranny goes again, you will want to look for a leak in the system and correct the leak before driving the truck very far.

If you do have a bad tranny, I would guestimate a tranny rebuild being about $1500-2000. part of it depends on what needs to be replaced due to damage and if you are looking to upgrade anything (lots of options with the tranny you have).

fluid was full, and clean. now it thru 2 codes P0720 & P2106. one is tps which i cleaned...the 2106 has to do with limp home mode and a front output shaft sensor.. i just dropped it off at the shop, let's see what they suggest. thanks for answering, you helped me out alot on the old site(FTW)you are a wealth of info!!!!!!!! thanks again thermo

Mtchbrian, welcome to the site. Since this is an old thread that the OP never updated we don't know what he ended up doing. By the sounds of it the trans went in for an overhaul or was replaced.
