I always thought it was part of the noise canceling stuff. The alarm thing is above the rear view mirror.

These freaking things have noise cancelling? On my jeep I call them 35" mudders and they cancel out all noise, can't hear a thing.

Serious though, noise cancelling? My expedition has that thing in the back and we have the plain jane xlt, the only option it has is the max tow. It would surprise me if it had noise cancelling.

Well a read through the brochure online reveals that only the platinum/lincoln have the active noise control but all the expeditions apparently have the microphones for that system. Not sure what that means...possibly could be turned on via the software? Anyway, reading about it seems like it is pretty neat technology. Mine is so quiet all ready, I am not sure I would want it any quieter.

You’re correct, only the higher trim models have noise canceling.
