whats this warning light mean?

I have a red light on.... oil can with thermometer together....
My oil is over heating??

I cant find the symbol online

Check your oil! It's probably at least 1 1/2 to 2 quarts low . Also check the coolant level in plastic expansion tank. Should be in the middle of lines. Are you hearing engine noise?

You are getting old 1955moose...forgot to tell him to shut the engine off and why.

We take that knowledge for granted and assume everyone knows it also. That isn't the case in today's world, the students I'm teaching prove it every semester. Guess HotRod magazine has been replaced by some sort of gamer mag.

I keep forgetting, we sometimes have pre auto 101. Like the time in my early trade school class, where the student didn't tighten up the spanner that holds the tire/wheel to balancer. You should have seen everyone run for cover as the wheel shot across the shop at 100 mph.

That was the first thing I was thinking. If it's not digital on a screen these days, they collect dust in a drawer.

Give the guy some slack, my wife's new beetle had a blue light for cold coolant and red for overheating coolant.

He has a light come on that indicates oil and temp - in red, easy to think the oil is overheating if you don't know what they mean.

Were just funnin with the new guy. Remember the initiation when the top mechanic sent you to the parts room to get a radiator hose for the air cooled vw you were working on.

One of the fantastic attributes about this site is the professionalism and lack of verbal attacks between members compared to other sites. It may help the new members to let them know when you are having fun with them on their "learning curve".

I wasn't the one that attacked the new guy it was bedrck. If you take life too seriously, you never enjoy yourself. Were all trying to help here. Have a sense of humor, your day will go a lot smoother.

I'm just recommending to look at the replies we give from their perspective. Consider your audience...

I'm part German, I do take everything seriously....
I live in the south - I do have a sense of humor and I enjoy myself by watching students that don't listen and want to do things their way. Better than going to a movie. And the line they hear the most - Now what are you going to do? As I call it "They take the road less traveled".

Lol.... I'm 51 years old...believe me, I thought long and hard about starting this thread....But I searched the web under 02 expedition instrument warning lights..and used different variations and got nothing like I was looking for.

In the last 4 months I've replaced the rear lower control arms, dropped the diff to clean the oil pan screen, replaced the trans fluid and filter, etc....and I'm frustrated....finally got it back together and drove it about 50 miles to check the trans level. All was good. Then went to return some movies and I get the light.

Of course my wife looks up "oil overheating" and bam...there is my light!

I looked in my Chilton book and didn't find anything either.

I don't have a Ford manual for her.

After my wife found it we searched and got a slew of possible issues from bad engine ground to cracked head gasket to a phantom warning.

Going to take her (my truck not my wife) into AutoZone and have them run the codes....

The Chilton manual along with the Haynes manual make good material for starting fires.
Just my opinion

If you don't have the owners manual you can download a copy at

owner.ford.com

Also you can obtain a copy of the Ford Workshop Manual on DVD for less money then rather Chilton or Haynes and then you will have a manual that is specific to your year.
