So basically long story short, I bought this 1998 Expedition XLT from a guy off craigslist and he didnt smog it. so it doesnt pass the HC part of the smog test (California) and I have the P0171 and P0174 CEL codes on it.
I have replaced the starter solenoid, fuel filter, oil filter, air filter, battery, topped off all fluids, cleaned the MAF sensor, cleaned the battery terminals.
I'm thinking I might have a vacuum leak somewhere causing the light to come on or I need to replace the Fuel Pump. What do you think? How do I even look for a vacuum leak? Is this common with Expeditions of this year?
I also forgot to add that when I installed the Fuel Filter the CEL turned off for about an hour then came back on with the same codes.
Also, when trying to start it pretty much 98% of the time it clicks once. and thats it. Sometimes if I hold the key in that position long enough it will start up.
I'm thinking I need a new starter. What do you think? Am I on the right path?
