Where does this go in the center console?

See the highlighted opening. A few bookmark-sized paper placards were placed there, and slipped into that opening. The cover below it still open and closes seemingly unaffected.

I can't find a way to get to the placards and have no idea where they went. More curious than worried at this point. Should I just forget about it, or try to get them out? Where would I even start, take it to the dealer?

There are several posts on this forum about the same problem. I vaguely remember someone posting how they removed the console to retrieve the item.

Maybe do a search and some reading? Good luck. Seems like a poor design by Ford.

It took me losing several papers there for me to learn to NEVER put papers there!!!!! 24 Max Limited

I have the same problem on our 2004 XLT, I put my wife's disabled card, that hangs from the mirror in the gap and it ate it, how do I get it to regigitate.?? and get me out of the dog house.

I have the same problem on our 2004 XLT, I put my wife's disabled card, that hangs from the mirror in the gap and it ate it, how do I get it to regigitate.?? and get me out of the dog house.
It's a pain to do based on videos. Sorry man.

Once you have done it once, it's easy. First time I did it, I left an electrical connector disconnected and had to take it all back apart! Second time through I was in and out in 15 minutes.
