This seems to have just started, at least it isn’t anything I’ve noticed before.
When accelerating, from a stop is when I notice it most clearly, there is a whining noise coming from the engine compartment. I’m not much for do it yourself auto repairs so I can’t really narrow it down much more than that.
It sounds like what you would hear from faulty power steering but it doesn’t appear to be so. Sitting parked and moving the steering wheel back and forth does not create the sound. The sound is a whining, almost electrical sounding. It is only noticeable when accelerating. My exhaust is too loud for me to be able to tell if it’s happening at higher speeds.
