I have a 2021 Expedition and I purchased the Infotainment Sync4 Upgrade with the larger screen back in March 2025. When I received the unit, I installed it and found it had issues. After discussing with Infotainment, they asked me to send the APIM back to them for reprogramming, which I did. Post reprogramming, a vital issue still remains and I am now returning the unit for refund.

The only support Infotainment will offer is to "reset the Sync3 APIM using Forscan with as built data"; however, the Sync3 APIM is now not communicating. I do not know what changes their programmer makes, but now it is like the Sync3 unit can not be reached by Forscan. Prior to the Infotainment install, all systems were functioning properly when read by Forscan.

I can post any screenshots and data that could help diagnose this.

I am wondering if this has to be done by a dealer or if anyone has advice on how to resolve this? I am in the Houston area if anyone is local and can help.

Try unplugging the GWM for 15 seconds with the ignition on but engine off. Then try a fresh scan with FORScan. When you open the session and it asks if you want to select the existing profile, select no so FORScan does a fresh scan.

Sorry you had issues.

Do what Ruged Said, The gateway is the OBD connector. There is a plug on the back of it. Turn car on not running. Disconnect that connector wait 15 seconds or so then reconnect. The APIM should then be seen again

I asked to speak with you and even offered to take my Expedition to your facility in Dallas, but was told absolutely not. Thank you for your support on helping me get my Sync3 system working. I will shoot you a message later this evening on here when I do what you instructed.

A huge thank you to Jesse. He sorted me out and even got the Sync4 Infotainment working properly. This upgrade really makes the vehicle more enjoyable.

And a thank you to Rugedraw for the advice and letting Jesse know about this post.

If either of y'all are ever in Houston area, let me know and I will buy you a beer (or a coffee if you prefer).

Jesse is an absolute guru when it comes to this stuff. I had no doubt he would get you sorted out one way or another.
