1999 Ford Expedition. The wipers stay on all the time. Just pulled the fuse.

Things I have done so far
-replaced the wiper motor
-replaced the GEM
-no signs of water leaking from the windshield
-got another wiper switch from a junkyard still the same thing
-unplugged the switch all together and it still keeps going
-switched all the relays around same thing

Running out of ideas of what to check
Maybe a Ground rubbed through somewhere in the wire leading to the wiper motor?

Rear wiper doesn't work

Also the drivers door keeps burning up window motors
I replaced them with NAPA window motors
Greased the crap out of the tracks

I Hate Wiring problems. My eyes go cross eyed trying to read the tiny little service manuals.

Any Ideas?

which manuals are you reading or check these out The prints are as big as you screen or as tiny as your screen

Ford workshop manual on DVD. Can be obtained from seller "morpheousking" on e-bay. Cost about $10.00 Much better than Clymer, Haynes or Chilton and also includes wiring diagrams

Don't waste your money on a Clymer, Haynes or Chilton Manual.
It is well worth the $10.00 just make sure you get the DVD for your year as the seller has different DVD's for different years

Not all mfs are the same even though they plug up. Make sure your using the correct one. If your not the original owner it is possible that the one that was in it isn't correct.

Motors will burn out from over voltage, high current draw or excessive heat. I would expect the rubber window track/seals in the door are causing the glass to bind. How fast does it go up/down before it burns up?

A rubbed power wire that connects to ground is referred to as a short to ground. Those are always fuse poppers. Since you haven't stated your blowing fuses that isn't the problem. The wiper motor continues to work so it has power.

There are two relays in the battery junction box, "wiper run/park" and "wiper high/low". I would swap each one, one at a time or if you have a dvm I can give you the test points.

Swapped the relays around. Same thing no change.

Swapped the wiper stalks back to the old one. Same thing no change.

I know its not a short cause none of the fuses are blowing.

Wiper still has the different speeds just not off.

I'll look into it some more after dinner. Had a rough day today - it will be good therapy. Do the intermittent settings work correctly?

Took a look at the manual, the mfs feeds into the GEM. You'll need a dvm to check grounds through it. I'm guessing one of the relays is being kept on.
