Hey 99WhiteC5Coupe, I bought new a white 1970 Corvette, 350hp 350 torque. Drove hard for 120k miles (++ tickets) Prob my favorite car during my 55 years of driving!
Many thanks for your time !
The Expy is my daughter / son in law’s vehicle. He told me, but I can’t remember all the details re the new battery & alternator = two different repair shops. Something about the battery guy not tightening the ? On the battery. 3rd shop = at their trusted home town mechanic = all seemed Ok… The car was inspected, engine ?flushed due to very dirty spark plugs (replaced) - Then they drove it 120 miles to our home + 2-3 more trips locally before the stoppage.
The car would not start while in park or after: Jiggled the steering wheel, brake lights worked, tricked it into neutral, removed the very small panel on the console pushed on the surface inside … none of these enabled starting the vehicle.
Not sure re your other Q’s. We tried several fixes but it was hot + small child + lots of groceries so he just had it towed to the dealer.
The goal of our research is to best understand the possible solutions so when the dealer presents their suggested fix we know whether to get a second opinion.
We read lots of posts etc on the Web and this site but can’t try them since the car is at the dealer.
Several solutions include:
For starting(we were able to get the shifter in neutral):
** jiggle the key in ignition
** low or dead battery in fob
** stuck or broken button in shifter mechanism under the shifter console
** ? Pawl stuck in transmission
** close drivers door
** Parking brake on or stuck = find way to release or unstick
** Fuse related to car computer not recognizing car is in park or OK to start
** Ignition mechanism broken
Again many thanks for your time and other comments you may have.
Regards,
Tom
